We are a nonprofit organization with an international membership of 1,500 health professionals, lay members of the community (Community Health Advocates), corporate members, and institutional members, dedicated to eliminating the disparities related to cardiovascular disease in all people of color.

ABC 4th Year Fellowship AwardThe ABC aims to promote the development of academic medicine in clinical electrophysiology (EP). Through its Fellowship Awards Program, the ABC enables underrepresented minorities to gain specialized training in Clinical EP and other Cardiology subspecialities. Scholarship opportunities are announced as they arise. Fellowship applicants must be enrolled in an accredited cardiology training program and active in the ABC Cardiologists-In-Training (CIT) Program. The usual stipend to be awarded by the ABC for full-year fellowship is US $40,000 per year, and may vary based on funding. This stipend supports salary, fringe benefits and overhead costs. What You Need: Step.1:
Ahead of time, gather the following information and have it ready to upload when applying online. There is a 2MB upload limit. :
A) - Updated CV
B) - Recent Photo
C) - Short essay of no more than 3 pages, single spaced, Times Roman, 11 point type using Microsoft Word that includes the following information:

  • Clearly indicate that you are applying for Electrophysiology Training.
  • Discuss your research interests and experiences.
  • List any publications you have had.
  • Describe your career goals (include background and career goals in sufficient detail to allow the Committee to understand your interests in cardiology and long-term plans).
  • Describe your relationship, membership status, and interests in the ABC.

Step 2:
Have mailed directly to us the following information (Deadline for receipt: Dec 31)
  • Three (3) letters of recommendation (see below)
  • Letter of recommendation from your program director (in addition to the other three (3) letters)
