Description

The Association of Black Cardiologists, Meharry Medical College and Vanderbilt University jointly sponsor one first-year candidate. These institutions aim to increase the number of underrepresented minorities trained to begin post-fellowship careers with a solid foundation in clinical care, teaching and research. Training is provided through the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at Vanderbilt.

Eligibility
|
Fellowships are available for physicians and physician-scientists who have completed training in Internal Medicine and want to become board eligible in cardiovascular medicine. Applicants must also be active members of the ABC Cardiologists-In-Training (CIT) Program.

The Award
|
The maximum stipend to be awarded for full-year fellowship is currently US $40,000 per year. This stipend will include salary, fringe benefits and overhead costs.

STEP 1
Ahead of time, gather the following information and have it ready to upload when applying online. There is a 2MB upload limit. :
A) - Recent Photo
B) - Updated CV
C) - Short Bio Essay of no more than 3 pages, single spaced, Times Roman, 11 point type using Microsoft Word or equivalent that includes the following information:
- Describe your career goals (include background and career goals in sufficient detail to allow the Committee to understand your interests in cardiology and long-term plans).
- Describe your relationship, membership status, and interests in the ABC.

STEP 2
Have postal mailed directly to us the following information (Deadline for receipt: Friday, August 31, 2012)
- Official transcript sent from the medical school
- Three (3) letters of recommendation (see below)
- Letter of recommendation from your program director (in addition to the other three (3) letters)
