Community Health Advocates ~ ABC Mentor for Youth Program

Community Health Advocacy
We encourage community-wide participation in heart disease prevention, education, detection and lifestyle changes that can improve the cardiovascular health status of all communities, primarily those with a majority of African Americans residents who remain at higher risk for heart disease and stroke when compared to white Americans.

ABC Mentor for Youth Program

The ABC Mentor for Youth Program seeks to connect Medical Professionals to mentor our youth who are in High School or in College and are considering going into Medical School.

If you're thinking about getting started as a medical professional, or even if you've already started, one of the wisest things you can do is seek out a mentor. Why? There are lots of reasons. You've heard that experience is the best teacher. But it's also true that you can skip past a lot of those personal-growth experiences by turning the famous phrase around: Make experienced people your teachers. If they can tell you about what they did or wished they had done, you might get past the problem more quickly or avoid it altogether.

The Mentor for Youth Program is currently not taking applications.
